The Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 took place on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th of July. The photos on this page are from Sunday.
The Royal International Air Tattoo (also simply known as ‘RIAT’) is the largest military airshow in Europe. It takes place at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, UK.
After the RIAT of 2020 and 2021 had been cancelled because of Covid, it was great to see that RIAT 2022 was coming. But suddenly, due to the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 by Russia, it was again unsure if the RIAT 2022 could go ahead.
Luckily, RIAT 2022 went ahead. It was no surprise that many ‘regular’ air forces were absent, most noticeably the Ukrainian Air Force.
Although the impact on the number of aircrafts and participants was obvious, the RIAT 2022 was still a great event as the photos below will show.
